IVEJ x Osige

I collaborated with a design studio to produce a new website in 2 months

What I did

Imperial Valley Equity & Justice (IVEJ) was part of the Latino Community Foundation's Nonprofit Accelerator and as part of the cohort, we had the chance to have our website redesigned by Osige Creative. Since I'm currently a 1-person communications and design team, this collaboration was a god-send and an opportunity to bring the website project out of the back burner for good.

I'd never taken an art direction role but given that we only had 2 months to collaborate, I needed to make sure the IVEJ brand and voice were clear from the start, so I provided a complete sitemap of what our vision was, a color palette, typography, and visual assets to complete the vision. While Osige worked on the website design, I worked on writing content. I rounded up photos by Bryan Patrick (who took photos of IVEJ as part of the Nonprofit Accelerator) and the result was a website that feels very much like IVEJ.

Why I did it

If I've learned something as an organizer it's that there is never enough time, so when this opportunity came through, I felt the need to be really proactive in order to minimize the back and forth. Residents often ask us what we do and why we do it, so being able to make that clear through the narrative told throughout the website was key.
