From design to communications strategy
What I do
I started off as an organizer & designer at Imperial Valley Equity & Justice back in 2024 but due to the needs of the non-profit, my role evolved to digital organizing and communications strategy in Q2 of 2025. Design is still very much tied to my role, but now one of my biggest tasks is mobilizing community across a range of campaigns in relation to our program areas (environmental justice, public health, and racial & economic justice) along the US-Mexico border. This has led me to pursue narrative work & design justice methodologies.
Why I do it
I didn't think of myself as an organizer prior to joining IVEJ, but working here has opened up a world for me—one where people come together to mobilize for good. There are so many campaigns going on at any given time, but working with the folks at IVEJ has been inspiring, and I'm proud of the evolution the org has had.
